Drive Medical is proud to announce the upcoming launch of the Teddy Bed – a next-generation paediatric hospital bed designed for safety, comfort, and full compliance with modern standards.

Developed in collaboration with children’s hospitals and informed by real-world clinical needs, the Teddy Bed brings a new level of care to paediatric wards. It provides an advanced solution tailored specifically for children, teenagers, and young adults, meeting the latest safety requirements under BS EN 50637:2017 and setting a new benchmark in paediatric hospital equipment.

Designed Around the Needs of Young Patients

Children—and some smaller adults—have unique needs, as do the caregivers who support them. That’s why the Teddy Bed was designed from the ground up with a child’s proportions and vulnerabilities in mind. It features a mattress platform suitable for patients with a body length of up to 155 cm, with an optional bed extension available for taller individuals, ensuring both safety and comfort across a wide age and size range.

The Teddy Bed is equipped with:

• Electrically profiling adjustments for backrest, thigh, and knee break
• Height adjustment from 400 mm to 780 mm to assist with caregiving tasks
• Trendelenburg and reverse-Trendelenburg positioning for versatile care settings
• Robust four-segment platform with durable HPL boards
• Easy-to-clean epoxy-coated steel frame for long-term hygiene and durability

Compliant, Safe and Smartly Designed

Meeting the EN 50637:2017 standard, the Teddy Bed addresses key safety issues such as entrapment risks that can arise from using adult beds for children. The design includes:

• New high side rails with smaller gaps and adjusted dimensions for added safety
• Clear patient orientation labelling
• Integrated central braking system for secure mobility
• Four impact-protection bumpers
• Sockets for IV poles and accessory compatibility

It also features mechanical CPR functionality and battery backup, ensuring readiness for emergency scenarios.
